12V Off Grid Workshop

Off-grid 12V Systems training is designed for those who:
  •  Want to refresh/learn more about building off-grid systems.
  • Want to learn or improve their ability to connect panels together, connect panels to batteries, charge controllers, battery guards and appliances.
  • Have attended the DIY Solar Panel Building course; Own or intend to own solar panels for off-grid use.
  • Want to understand more about how their panels work and how best to set them up for off-grid use.

You will learn:
  • The electrical basics: current, voltage, resistance, power, series and parallel circuits.
  • How to test, understand and use 12V batteries.
  • How to use the right components to build circuits to power phones and laptop chargers from your battery.
  • Direction and advice for further circuit and systems design and build.
  • Information about the energy dilemma in the UK and possible future solutions.
  • Where to buy adapters for off-grid laptop and phone charging &12V batteries at affordable prices. 

 

INFORMATION:

It is a one-day training course for a maximum of ten people. 
It will run at a B&B Converted Barn in Othery, Somerset.  

The course is on Sun the 8th of May 2016 from 10am-6pm, including one hour for lunch.

This workshop is NOT FOR PROFIT.  Any and All profits will go to Running MORE 1 day Reuse WorkShops at the Red Brick Building.  So wae need to make this one a Success! 

The following Workshops will be available:  

  • Build your own Hot Water Solar Panel like the ones used on the Solar Power Shower Tower.
  • Restore or Redesign a piece of old furniture to make it fit into your new place.
  • Fix up that old bicycle you've had in the shed for years.
  • Learn to Build using juice cartons.  Make a TetraShack or similar structure.  
  • Make a Hula Hoop from water pipe and extras.
